Batch 1 – CICTL

FESDA had given me a unique opportunity to expand my know-how and train educators to new pedagogical perceptions. COVID being a blessing in disguise has helped me and my fellow educators to see learning in a new environment. Risk-taking was never a part of school education for me, now I see it in a new light. Cambridge Certificate for Teaching and learning though is a feather in my cap, the experiences that come along with it are worth 100 gold medals. The Program leaders and the trainers support took us to a new level of recognition of the learning process. Many more will travel the path and many more will make a mark.  Thank you FESDA.

Shilpa Raghuraj

Batch 1 – CICTDT

Cambridge International Certificate in Teaching with Digital Technologies – made me see – Teaching in a new dimension, teaching meeting the new pedagogies, answering the needs of the 21st-century students. During my learning and collaboration with my colleagues, I understood that technology should be used correctly and fittingly as a tool for learning. As a teacher, I need to use this tool to give ample learning opportunities for all kinds of learners. The learning process should happen in an organized pattern by assimilation, accommodation, equilibrium. The guided learning approach moulded me into an independent learner, empowering me, challenging me. This way of learning met the learning needs of the candidates through focused intervention, interaction and collaboration. This quest for making learning experiential is just started with the new approach and will continue with more findings in the journey.

FESDA – The new era of professional learning is in with the right approach !! Happy to be part of the PILOT BATCH of FESDA!!

Professional development courses are the strategies to be taken up by every individual to strengthen their practice throughout out their career. To enrich and enhance my skills, I have enrolled myself in the PDQ centre and pursued the course of teaching with digital technologies. The course content enabled me to identify new instructional methods, advanced technical skills and also various online teaching techniques. This helped me a lot in identifying the needs of all kinds of learners and learns more effective teaching practices to apply to daily challenges. We had very interactive, real time discussion sessions in each and every class with our mentors and program leaders Ms. Vardhana Lakshmi and Ms. Jeevani who gave us the opportunity to share our knowledge. Apart from that, we had our own study groups guided by our mentor Ms. HimaJyothsna to have in depth discussion on the topic taught. All the techniques that we have learnt, educational objectives, principles, blooms taxonomy, different theories of learning are helpful for future scope in expanding our knowledge. The handouts were very informative. Assignments were discussed and individual feedback was provided after every session. I thank the management for providing me the golden opportunity to pursue such a wonderful course.

So now my focus is always on active learning strategies, where the learners think more deeply and critically, stretching themselves and actively inquiring. Now I am planning to collaborate in group projects and other activities which provide students with an opportunity to explore and/or experience their new learning. I also observed that my learners are more involved… interest levels are higher. Finally, I can say strongly that now I am able to integrate new ideas and approaches to make learning more active and successful. Now I became a good reflective practitioner sharing all my experiences. Always I am thankful to all my mentors for their continuous support and guidance.

A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never get back to its old dimension.

I feel this quote is very apt, now the experience and the learning form PDQ has a great impact in my teaching.  After doing PDQ I understood that when a child can do it /experience a learning he can learn more and the concept retains in mind. My teaching has changed from routine reading and explaining to connecting with real life. Different learning strategies are helping me to concentrate on my slow learners. My new experience and my new learning is making my learners to experience new learning every day.

Now I am using active learning approaches in my classroom practice which engage learners in deep rather than surface learning, and enable my learners to apply and transfer knowledge better. This course improved my classroom practice. Previously I used to plan the lessons to teach the content, Now my lesson plan provides a general outline of my teaching goals, learning objectives, and I am aware of what teaching and learning activities I have to plan to help my learners to achieve the learning objectives. My understanding of active learning influences my classroom practice. This course has provided a framework for my future professional development.

Ms Jayasri Choda

CICTL (Batch 2) – AWS-HYD

As rightly quoted by Nelson Mandela “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.Adhering to the same lines PDQ course has trained us to implement the same in our teaching learning process. It is considered an essential mechanism for enhancing a teacher’s content knowledge and developing an educator’s teaching practices in order to teach across various grades. Every one of us is a student, constantly learning about everything life throws at us. Same is the case with teachers who should be constantly positioned on the learning curve. It will not be an overstatement to quote that a teacher is also a student for life; constantly updating her knowledge about her area of expertise. It is for this purpose that teachers should constantly update themselves with the evolving teaching technologies.

Everyone who dreams of staying on top of the game should keep reinventing themselves. All in an attempt to keep pace with the changes in educational space, it is through professional development programs that teachers and students enjoy a plethora of benefits. Students learning from trained teachers develop an interest in academics alongside uncovering their nascent talent. I recommend every teacher to take up this training course and reap its benefits for the betterment of ones teaching strategies

Ms Anthony Mary

CICTDT (Batch 3) – Venus Campus

This module and coursework requirements were directed to present some crucial and effective experiences for me. During the entire course, I learned extensively different learning, which can be proved quite helpful for me to build a successful and attractive career ahead. I can present the significance of the coursework activities done in terms of my learning from this subject.

Firstly, the most obvious thing that I discovered was the advantage of working as part of a group. I learned that good teamwork is the key to success in design activities when time and resources are limited. As everyone had their point of view, many different ideas could be produced, and I found the energy of group participation very stimulating. This made me feel more energetic about contributing to discussions.

Secondly, I discovered that even the simplest things on earth could be turned into something amazing if we put enough creativity and effort into working on them. With the Impromptu Design activities, I learned that every design has its weaknesses and strengths, and working with a group can help me discover what they are. We challenged each other’s preconceptions about what would and would not work. We could also see the reality of the way changing a design affected its performance.

Lastly, I would like to thank the management, mentor, trainers, and leaders. Without their support and feedback, I would not credit myself for getting distinction.

The content is interesting and made my mind active all through the course. The sessions were interesting and interactive with various activities. To complete this course we need proper planning, execution, and reflection. Here everything is a personalized experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the audit to know about the usage of Digital Technology in schools. I thought I am good at making different activities. In the words of Albert Einstein “It is the supreme art of a teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge” which was greatly experienced and exercised with the help of Professional Development course offered by FESDA.
